Who are you?

I am Willem Janke, 42 years old and father of three children. I live in Biddinghuizen and enjoy the space and countryside of Flevoland here. Fun fact: some of the best parties happen in my backyard, with Lowlands and Defqon.1 being two of the highlights. And of course the occasional BBQ.

What is your role at Sollit and how has it evolved since you started working there?

I am Tech Lead at Sollit. I actually started as the very first developer of (then) 2Solar and worked on what has now become our current solution. Over the years, with my deep experience in the software and development process, I've also become the go-to person for specific (and rare!) bugs. We always strive to solve problems as quickly as possible, and I'm proud to be part of that process

You've been working at Sollit since the founding of the previous brand, 2Solar, in 2013 ... how has the company changed since then?

I actually started a little earlier, in May 2012, at Seed2Lead (a company that preceded 2Solar). When Erik-Jan van de Worp introduced the first idea that would later become 2Solar > Sollit, we experimented with different sales models. In the beginning, we worked through distributors, where their customers could order directly from their warehouses using our software. But soon we shifted our focus to solar installers, realizing this was where we could have a greater impact on the energy transition, while helping installers be more efficient and profitable.
It's been incredible to watch the company grow. We have grown from pioneers in this sector to market leader in the Benelux. As with any good idea, it took a while to gain momentum, but once the market saw the potential, it really took off!

What are you most proud of at Sollit?

I'm still most proud of the fact that we grew from a fun 2-man project into a full-fledged, healthy company with over 70 employees. It has been a great experience to see this growth in real time.

What does 'Everyone Counts' mean to you?

To me, 'Everyone Counts' means that every voice counts. No one is left out and our flat organizational structure encourages everyone to make their voice heard. Erik-Jan is just another colleague. Everyone here is equally valuable and everyone brings something unique to the table.
