Sollit stories: Meet Roman

Who are you and what is your role at Sollit?

My name is Roman, I'm 30 years old and I live in Lviv, Ukraine. Lviv sits right at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, which is perfect for me because I love hiking and spending time outdoors. Whenever I get the chance, I go camping, fire up a barbecue somewhere in nature, and just disconnect for a while.

At Sollit, I work as an Operations Specialist. In simple terms, my job is to make sure that the way we work internally actually works. I look at the processes between departments — Product, Engineering, Support, Sales — and make sure there's no friction, no bottlenecks, and no confusion about who does what. When something is unclear or inefficient, I dive in, investigate, and build a solution. A big part of my role is also making sure that when someone new joins, they can get up to speed quickly because the processes are well-documented and well-structured.

How has your role evolved since you started?

I joined in 2019, straight out of university. I was 23 and started as a manual QA engineer on the development team, testing the Sollit software hands-on. From there, I moved into automation QA, then took on the Scrum Master role, and later became a Product Owner where I helped ship products with different teams. Eventually, I transitioned into the operations position I'm in today, and it honestly feels like this is where I was heading all along.

Looking back, what I appreciate most is that Sollit gave me the room to grow into each of those roles rather than boxing me in. Every step taught me something different — QA taught me how the product works from the inside, Scrum Master taught me how teams work together, Product Owner taught me how to prioritize and ship. All of that comes together in what I do now.

I've always had this drive to take something that's unclear or messy and turn it into something structured and understandable. Operations lets me do exactly that every day, and the gratification I get when I see a process go from broken to smooth is hard to describe. My skills, my confidence, my expertise — they've all grown here, and Sollit gave me the space to make that happen.

What makes working at Sollit special to you?

Working 100% remote from Ukraine could easily feel isolating, but at Sollit it genuinely doesn't. After seven years here, the day-to-day feels like working right beside the team. Everyone understands the situation, and whenever I run into something, people go out of their way to help.

What I value most is the transparency and the openness. There are no borders between me and my colleagues, my manager, or even the C-level. I can reach out to anyone, ask anything, and I'm never shut out of information. The company tries to be as transparent as possible with its employees, and that makes a real difference when you're working from a different country.

What does the value “A deal is a deal” mean to you in practice?

Working 100% remotely from Ukraine, trust is what holds everything together. My colleagues can't see me at my desk, so what I say I'll do has to be enough. For me, "a deal is a deal" means that when I commit to something, whether it's a process improvement, an automation, or a fix for something that stopped working, it gets done. If a colleague is counting on a workflow I built and it breaks, I treat that as my problem to solve, wherever I am and whatever time it is.

In seven years, I've seen that work in both directions. Sollit has been just as reliable with me: open about information, honest in conversations, and true to its word about giving me room to grow. When a deal is a deal on both sides, the distance between Lviv and the office stops mattering.

What  are you most proud of at Sollit?

Two things, honestly. First, I'm proud of what the company has become. When I joined in 2019, Sollit was still growing and finding its place. Now we're the market leader in Europe, actively helping the transition to renewable energy. Being part of that journey — watching it happen from the inside — is something I don't take for granted.

But what I'm personally most proud of is how the company treats its people. Sollit genuinely values your skills and your knowledge, and it gives you the space to develop them. I joined as a fresh graduate with no professional experience, and seven years later I'm helping to shape how the company operates across departments. That didn't happen by accident — it happened because people here believed I could grow into it before I fully believed it myself.
